Barrington Coast Sustainable Seafood Festival

The Moorings Lakehouse hosted the inaugural Shuck & Shell: Barrington Coast Sustainable Seafood Festival on Saturday 11th Jan'25. The feed back from attendees was heart warming. We are excited to be hosting this provincial seafood festival annually and celebrating the produce and fishermen of Wallis Lake.

The property is designed to harness the therapeutic properties of nature. Rolling ornate gardens, food forests and organic veggie gardens connect the accommodations. Handpick fresh salad leaves from our organic vegetable garden, dig up a golden tuber of turmeric or maybe find a ripe jewel in one of our orchards. At The Moorings Lakehouse, nature's bounty becomes a part of your wellness journey.


The property’s architecture is inspired by the colours of the jetty with greying antique timber beams, white weather boards and flashes of oyster encrusted sandstone. Every corner reveals breathtaking views, inviting you to unwind and find solace in the beauty that surrounds you.


Permaculture principles have guided all design ideas over the last 15 years. Permaculture's guiding philosophy is to retain energy inputs within the system, including water, light, soil nutrients and above all else human engagement. How do you harness human energy best? By making everything beautiful! You can design as best you can in 2 dimensions however the real beauty happens when nature takes over in the 3rd dimension, when over lapping canopies are established, garden microcosms develop, frogs, blue tongue lizards and wallabies move in, magic happens.

Our Organic Gardens

You will find three orchards and our veggie garden:

 

1/. 'Traditional 'with peaches, apricots, plums ,pomegranate, bananas, gauva, feijoa, finger limes, nashi pears, black sapote, persimmon, figs, blueberries, lemons, tangelos, oranges, mandarins, grapefruit, apples, dragon fruit, lychees, pecans, chestnuts, macadamias and kiwi fruit 

 

2/. 'Amazonian' with tropical fruit including custard apples, Brazilian cherries, acerola berries, loquats, coffee plants, turmeric, yacon and ginger 

 

3/. 'Bush Tucker' with edible Australian natives including Davidson Plum, Atherton Almonds and LemonScented Myrtle.
